From my initial trips, camera has accompanied me on climbs of tall mountains or long hikes in the freezing cold or exhausting heat. Which one was an excuse and which one a companion is certainly not clear for myself. I wonder if I took the camera with me to the top of the mountains and seclusion of the desserts or the camera dragged me to these places.

In all these years, the main excuse for my trips has been my business. If being a tour guide has no other benefit, it has the benefit of forcing one to always have one's backpack, and perhaps one's camera, ready. The positive aspect of this "bad" occupation has been to accompany other human beings on these trips. All of these fellow travelers, from the most serious and competent ones, such as the National Geographic journalists, or the seekers of a particular plant in Alborz mountains, a rare animal at the foot of the Zagros mountain or a poisonous snake in the desserts of Iran, have one thing in common: they have all been mesmerized by the magic of travel; and there are so many excuses on this heap of dirt called earth.
